WE NEED VOLUNTEER BOARD MEMBERS!

If you have ever felt the need to be part of your community, and want to provide for a positive, enriching environment for low-income persons and help them excell by providing a warm and safe environment, then we urge you to become part of the Habitat family. Join as a volunteer to see if you are a good fit to our organization. If you want to do more, consider becoming a Board of Director or a member of our Advisory Board. Time commitment is minimal (once a month meetings for Directors and twice a year for Advisors) and the personal satisfaction is overwhelming!
To become a member of the Board, submit a Volunteer Information Form indicating your desire and qualifications. Strong candidates will be:


Enthusiastic about Habitat’s Mission

Be People Oriented and have a positive outlook
Connected to the Community
Have time to commit to Habitat (about 2 hours a month for meetings; other volunteer time optional)
Able to support Habitat financially (give what you can)
Able to work on fundraising events, grant seeking, public relations, ReStore oversight, organize volunteers, help choose homebuyers for homes (homebuyer selection), construction oversight
Capable of providing expertise in one of the following areas: law (attorney), financial advisor, business ownership, education, computer or web expertise, counseling, construction trades, or just have a willingness to help with any project or activity of Habitat.

QUALIFICATIONS to become a Board member:
• Unbridled enthusiasm and contagious passion for the mission and vision of Habitat
• Able to sign the Affiliate Covenant (agreeing to the legal duties described below), avoid conflicts of interest, and honor confidentiality
• A reputation for integrity, the ability to keep commitments, and willingness to learn
• Emotional maturity with ability to build team spirit and lead by example without micro-managing
• Able to dedicate time to work with a committee, and able to encourage others to do so
• Able and willing to contribute financial resources and enthusiastic about encouraging others to give
• Ability to interpret a financial report and make long-range plans for growth
• Able to attend at least 8 monthly meetings per year
• Able to attend at least one Habitat regional training event during a three-year term
• Good communication skills, flexibility, and a sense of humor
