Our partner families are required to contribute a minimum of 250 hours during the build process. Habitat for Humanity believes that this form of “sweat equity” fosters pride of home ownership.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CALAVERAS HOMES ARE:
ENERGY EFFICIENT
Our current homes include energy-efficient features such as increased insulation, low-flow water fixtures, CFL or LED lighting, cutting-edge products, and solar installations. Our homes are LEED certified.
HEALTHY PLACES FOR FAMILIES TO LIVE
Habitat homes are modestly-sized that are built to meet the needs of our partner families. Habitat’s commitment to build for income-qualified people extends to those with disabilities. When possible, Habitat homes incorporate basic accessible design features such as zero-step entrances and wide passage doors and hallways.
BUILDING PRACTICE & MATERIALS ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Habitat houses are built using wood frame or SIP panel construction, gypsum board interior walls, wood, concrete or vinyl siding, and asphalt shingle roofs.
