When Ann realized her trusted vehicle no longer met her needs, she didn’t trade it in or let it gather dust—she chose to turn her car into hope. By deciding to donate a car to charity, Ann helped fuel our mission of building safe, affordable homes for working families right here in Calaveras County. We sat down with Ann to hear about her incredibly simple, impactful journey.

Q1. What inspired you to donate your car to Habitat for Humanity Calaveras?
Even though my car no longer suited the needs of my life, I knew it still had plenty to give as a donation to Habitat for Humanity. I deeply value Habitat’s mission and wanted to contribute to its work however I could.

Q2. What kind of vehicle did you donate, and how long had it been in your life? Do you have a fun story in your vehicle?
It was a 2006 black Honda Civic, which I had driven for over a decade. She got great mileage and took me all over California and up to Oregon on occasion!

Q3. How easy or difficult was the donation process?
It couldn’t have been simpler. Habitat for Humanity picked the car up right from my driveway at a time that worked with my schedule. I wish every donation was that easy!

Q4. How did you feel after making the donation?
I felt joy in knowing that I could be part, in a small way, of Habitat’s mission of building safe and sustainable housing in our community.

Q5. Why do you think vehicle donations are a good way to support Habitat Calaveras’ mission?
I love my community, and I want it to be a wonderful home for people for years to come. Part of how we accomplish that is by making sure everyone has a safe home to live in, and Habitat Calaveras does just that. A little bit goes further than you think towards making that dream a reality!

Q6. If you could say one thing to someone thinking about donating their vehicle, what would it be?
Please do it! There’s nothing like knowing that you have been part of something that will make someone else’s future brighter.
