Celebrating National Volunteer Week: A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Habitat Calaveras Volunteers

At Habitat for Humanity Calaveras, we know that volunteers are the heart of our mission. During National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to celebrate the many hands and hearts that help build homes, hope, and community across Calaveras County.

This year, we kicked off our celebration with a Neighborhood Revitalization project at the Calaveras County Airport – Maury Rasmussen Field, just in time for Airport Day on May 3. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean, weed, paint, and repair picnic tables — giving this community space a much-needed refresh. The day was generously sponsored by the Calaveras Community Foundation, with a delicious lunch provided by Valley Springs Grocery Outlet.

This effort is just one example of how volunteers help us extend our mission beyond homebuilding, supporting projects that bring beauty, dignity, and pride to public spaces throughout our county.

But volunteerism at Habitat Calaveras takes many forms. This week, and every week, we honor Board Members, Committee Members, administrative volunteers, event helpers, Critical Home Repair team members, and even our Cookie Crew, who bake up joy at our community events. Your time, energy, and commitment make our work possible.

As Executive Director Morgan Gace puts it, “When people volunteer with Habitat Calaveras, they become part of something larger — a movement grounded in community, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live.”

If you’ve ever wondered how you can get involved, we invite you to join us at our next Connect with Habitat event on May 21 at 8:30 AM at our office in Angels Camp (536 N Main Street). Come learn more about our mission, meet our team, and discover how you can make a difference. To RSVP for the event, click here.

Together, we’re building more than homes — we’re building community. Thank you to every volunteer who walks alongside us.
